Live Your Most Beautiful Life
Hey Ladies,
I recently came across this makeup line, "Valana Minerals" while reading one of the blogs I follow. It's a vegan line of makeup made for women of color. I love the fact that her makeup line is all natural and that her site says that she is actively trying to make sure all of the harsh chemicals are not used in her products. However i've never used the line before and really want to see any honest reviews that people have. So, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with the line? The site looks great and her reviews from the site are all positive. Any feedback would be helpful.

I have been using Valana Minerals for over two years and I love, love the products.
My foundation color is Golden Honey. Also, the brushes are very soft. The Powder Buffer brush definitely works great for light application of foundation.
Also the eye shadows are great! Today, I was wearing "Echanted Sunrise" for the highlight color, "Adobe crush" for contour and "Spirit Rain" for the accent color. Valerie, the owner of Valana Minerals has great video tutorials on how to apply the foundation and eye shadows.
I highly recommend Valana Minerals

The foundation that I bought from this line was extremely shimmery and looked more like a bronzer than a foundation and the coverage was cakey and made my skin noticeably look like I had on makeup. The coverage wore off later in the day, and the shade turned a dark reddish burgandy color on my face so much so that I was embarassed that I went to an event looking like that. I saw reviews saying that the shades have been changing color on people, so I'm not sure if the formula has changed since when she first came out or what but the look of it on the skin looks terrible. I have oily skin, and I know for a fact that this made my skin oilier and exacerbated my adult acne and the powder seemed to accentuate my laugh lines worse than MAC (which I thought was impossible). This foundation also has a strong metal looking hue to it....again like bronzer. You can see this most prominently in the sun and the appearance is just unbelievably unnatural. I ended up, by the end of the day, looking like a burgandy Tin Man. For the price, the size of this is laughable. Ive bought from many many many MMU lines and not once have I received such a tiny size foundation amount/container for almost $30! Lucy minerals, meow, and almost every makeup line I can think of charge UNDER thirty dollars for a foundation that is literally double the container size of valanas and in meows case quadruple. This foundation makes a huge mess when you open it, the powder just falls out and gets all over the place floors, countertops, clothes etc. I wouldn't recommend putting this on with your work clothes on, because you will undoubtedly get it everywhere.
Ive also seen reviews where people have been complaining about the owner coming on forums as herself under an alias to convince people to buy from her and the fact that the Valana Minerals product line is really repackaged Essential Wholesale. The owner is apparently reselling and repackaging Essential Wholesale products and selling them to the public at high prices while telling customers she is formulating her own products when she really is not. The perfect performance cream mousse foundation is really an Essential wholesale premade lotion base and her lipsticks are essential wholesales vegan lipstick base.
Valana Minerals.....dont advertise and tell your customers that your a mixtress of ALL of your products if you are not. That's a straight up lie, and don't make up a story about it taking two years to make your cream foundation when theres evidence that your just repackaging another products base, mixing your color in it and selling it for almost $40 for a 1 ounce bottle. I will never purchase from this product line again. I honestly wish I had purchased this from a store so I could at least return it and get my money back. worst mineral foundation Ive ever bought.

My main reason for not going with this product line was that I had a problem with the bare minerals line that had my skin breaking out and burning and i didn't want to risk the same thing happening twice. Thanks everyone for your comments.
